MAKING A CLAIM.
THIS INFORMATION IS GIVEN AS A GUIDE ONLY AND ANY CLAIM WILL BE SUBJECT TO COMPLYING WITH THE ACTUAL POLICY CONDITIONS OF YOUR SCHEME, ON WHICH ANY CLAIM WILL DEPEND
YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF THESE AND ALSO MAKE SURE THAT IN THE EVENT OF ANYTHING HAPPENING THAT MAY RESULT IN YOU MAKING A CLAIM YOU READ THE POLICY TO CHECK IF THIS IS COVERED. IF IT IS , OBTAIN ALL THE DOCUMENTS AND RECEIPTS THAT THE POLICY CONDITIONS REQUIRE ( EG. AIRLINE PROPERTY LOST/IRREGULARITY REPORT, DELAYED BAGGAGE REPORT, POLICE REPORT etc ) PLEASE NOTE THAT IN THE EVENT OF A POSSIBLE MEDICAL CLAIM, YOU MAY HAVE TO CONTACT THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE NUMBER IMMEDIATELY OR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. ( Especially if you are admitted to hospital - do not be content with the hospital just asking ' are you insured?' ). WHEN COMPLETING A CLAIM FORM OR MAKING A CLAIM BY TELEPHONE OR ONLINE, READ THE POLICY SECTION(S) THAT YOU WILL BE CLAIMING ON FIRST TO ENSURE THAT WHAT YOU STATE IN YOUR CLAIM IS COVERED.
Please note that insurers will require you to show due care and attention with regard to your personal possessions, personal money and documents. Important documents are best kept in a locked safety deposit box or other secure place. Avoid taking large amounts of cash around with you while you are on holiday. Make photos copies of your insurance certificate, passports and other important documents and keep these seperate from the originals.
Always contact your insurer before spending any money that may result in a claim or buying a ticket home and if possible get a reference number or name when you speak to them. Always carry your policy certificate or a copy of this with you.
